The class is designed to help the creative soul carve out the perfect space for their creative work! It doesn't have to be in the arts - whether a dancer, writer, builder, realtor, you name it, we all have that creativity, it just needs to be nurtured.
Feng Shui is the art of arranging things in one’s home or studio/office in order to let the energy flow gently through unobstructed. By doing so it allows each area of our home to be revitalized and feed into the whole – that energy force that we live with. In this class, we work on defining our muse, and then creating a space where our muse will feel more comfortable and visit us more often.
We want more of those instances when time disappears as our fingers move across the keyboard, and then the next day, when we read what we wrote, not remembering it, we know our muse has made a visit. He appeared like Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, leaving gifts of words on our pages. Let’s create a space where Santa drops in way more often!
Isn't this what we always wanted - time to digest, and texturize the information and peel it back at our own speed. This class has you in mind. Just play around and take your time working through it. It is set up for total access upon registration, and will remain open indefinitely so each student can refer back at any time. I have set up a Facebook page, so that you can connect with each other, and discuss issues that you are finding within your creative spaces as we go along. I find it helps tremendously to discuss your findings with each other.
Start Date: April 1, 2017
If I had my way, my desk would sit out under a tree, far removed from human contact and sound. Not just any tree, mind you, but one embedded in a swirl of nature all about it. With the squirrels running up and down its trunk, and hanging out on a limb as the dogs race to its base, drooling at the possibility that sits above them. With a creek singing in the background…yes, nature for me is what brings my core alive. Like the dogs, nature wakes me to the possibilities of story, and of self. It enlivens my imagination and creativity. I have spent a lifetime studying "the essence of place" and bringing it alive in my writing. I hold an MFA, with a dual concentration in Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction, from Antioch University, Los Angeles, and am the author of Song of the Earth, "a novel said to be a journey into our consciousness both as a people and as a nation." Learn more about Song of the Earth. I am certified as a Creative Writing Instructor and generally find myself helping those who have lost that elusive 'thread' as they tried to weave it through their work. I am also a Feng Shui Consultant, and have been for several years. An excerpt of my story, "Crystal Threads" was published in the winter addition of the new online journal, Sprawlr. My other recent pieces have been in Role Reboot, High Country News and The Pilgrimage. I live in Joplin, MO at the moment caring for my elderly father, with Harry, my black lab, and Ellie, my golden retriever, at my heels. Those of you who find their way to "The Organics of Writing" will come away with a path into the WHY of your work, and although Feng Shui and the Nature of Our Muse is not a writing class per se, it will help us define our space and enhance our creative work.
I believe 'the written word, our stories, should be laced with profundity, giving the reader something to grasp' "By creating a positive flow of energy throughout our creative spaces, it instills in us a sense of calm and deep understanding of our work and ourselves.”
FENG SHUI AND THE NATURE OF OUR MUSE is an “evergreen” journey, meaning upon registration the class opens up to each student, and each can go through it at their own pace. It will remain open indefinitely, so you can go back to it at any time. The platform is Ruzuku and extremely user friendly. There are seven (7) modules with several activities under each module. I will be online with you and available all the way through. Throughout the course, there are prompts, asking you to reflect on your findings, or thoughts. By doing so, others in the class can expand on those, and the conversation can be priceless, so I urge you to participate in it. Also, there is a private Facebook page for conversation. As we lay out the bagua, consisting of nine ‘guas’ we build on each as we go through. As each student progresses, you will be amazed at how it all falls together.
The course is set up with seven (7) modules, with several activities within each module. It is designed to take you one step at a time into the heart of your space. Each gua builds on the other, creating a work space that will enhance your well-being and that of your work. We begin with defining our Muse.
There are videos, and materials to download. Also there are drawings, and you are expected to make your drawings of your space. We discuss the elements, colors and yin and yang. It is a visual presentation, making it easier to understand. BUT, if you have any questions as you work through the process, I will always be available to help along the way.
We follow the spiral of energy as we work our way through the nine (9) guas and how they relate to our general space, and our creative space, ending or is it beginning at the Heart of it all. How we can enhance our spaces for more active ‘muse’ involvement. Then, we bring it all together, finding our comfort zone in this space we spend so much time in.
This course is not a writing class, but a class to help you create a space that is conducive to your creative work. As with anything, if you expect to reap the benefits of it, you must apply yourself. Why else would you sign up? I promise you will be amazed at the way things come into the light for you, and I will be with you each step of the way. I am a Feng Shui Consultant who also is a novelist and teacher of Creative Writing. I understand the power of ‘place,’ whether it is in a novel, our work place, or our inner place, the heart of it all.
Once you have registered, and paid the $99, you will have total access to the class and there will be no refunds available. The class will be open indefinitely for your reference, and you can go back over it as many times as you like. Your privacy and mine are of the utmost importance. I have installed security to assure your financial information is safe. Your names and email addresses will not be shared with anyone else. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
